Discover the Beauty of Ballygally Beach on the Causeway Coastal Route

Looking for a picturesque beach to visit on the Causeway Coastal Route in Ireland? Look no further than Ballygally Beach, located just 10km north of Larne town. This award-winning beach has something for everyone, whether you want to take a short walk, build sandcastles with the kids, or even enjoy a quick swim.

At approximately 300m long, Ballygally Beach is a sandy paradise with seaweed and boulders. The views are truly breathtaking in all directions, from the dramatic Antrim coast and its headlands to the stunning scenery across the sea to Scotland. You can even catch a glimpse of the distinctive Ballygally Head and landmark features such as Scawt Hill and Sallagh Braes.

Access to the beach is easy via a sloped path that ends in a level wooden platform, and there are steps at either end. A viewpoint with seating is located beside the footway close to the main entrance, making it wheelchair accessible. Across the road from the main car park, a small shop sells refreshments and a wide variety of ice creams, so you can stay fueled up for your day at the beach.

Ballygally Beach has been awarded the Seaside Award for achieving the required standard of bathing water quality, general cleanliness, and provision of information and facilities. Bathing quality water standards can be found at www.nidirect.gov.uk/articles/bathing-water-quality. While dogs are welcome on the beach, there are some restrictions in place.

If you're looking for accommodations, the Ballygally Castle Hotel is conveniently located opposite the beach, with the Halfway House Hotel just 1km further north along the Coast Road (A2). There's even a small children's play park at the junction of Croft Road and Cairncastle Road. Toilets and baby changing facilities are located at the far end of the main car park.

In short, Ballygally Beach is a must-see destination on the Causeway Coastal Route, offering stunning views, easy accessibility, and all the amenities you need for a perfect day at the beach.
