The Glenveagh Castle Gardens are a stunning destination for a day out, with free entry and all-year-round access.

Located in Glenveagh National Park in northwest County Donegal, the gardens date back to the 1880s and still feature their original Victorian layout.

The Pleasure Gardens and the Walled Garden, the two major elements of the garden, were built in the late 1880s for Cornelia Adair. From the late 1950s to the early 1980s, the gardens were further developed to include the Gothic Orangery, the Italian Terrace, the Tuscan Garden, and a diverse collection of southern hemisphere trees, shrubs, and rhododendrons. The rhododendron displays are particularly stunning from late March to the end of May.

Admission to the park, including the gardens, is free, and visitors are welcome from dawn to dusk all year round. It's recommended to book a tour of Glenveagh Castle before visiting the gardens, allowing visitors to explore the gardens while waiting for their tour.

The Glenveagh Castle Gardens are a must-visit destination for anyone seeking a beautiful and peaceful day out in County Donegal.
