Connemara Championship Golf Links

Nestled at the edge of Europe on the stunning wild Atlantic coast of Galway, Ireland, lies the Connemara Championship Links, a true masterpiece of golfing design. This links course, situated between the majestic Twelve Bens mountains and the vast Atlantic Ocean, offers golfers an exhilarating experience that is both challenging and unforgettable.

With its awe-inspiring views of the Atlantic Ocean, the Connemara Championship Links features 27 holes, all of which are par 72. Designed by the renowned golf course architect Eddie Hackett, this course measures over 7,000 yards, making it a true test of skill for even the most experienced golfers.

The course was first opened in 1973 and has since become famous for its back nine, which have been described as "the equal of any in the world." The 13th hole, in particular, is a challenging 200-yard par-three that will test even the most skilled golfers. The long par-five 14th hole is also a formidable challenge, while the 15th hole boasts a green that is perched high up in the hills, making it accessible only by aerial assault.

The 16th hole features a green that is guarded by water, adding an extra element of difficulty to the game. And then there are the 17th and 18th holes, both par-fives that are over 500 yards long and exposed to the elements. The 18th green, in particular, is well-guarded by bunkers and lies in the shadow of the course's impressive clubhouse, which was completed in 2007.

In the year 2000, an additional nine holes were added to the course. The first two of these meander along the coast, with waves crashing onto white sand beaches below. The third and fourth holes curl inland, following a tricky waterway, before the next five holes take players on a climb into the rocky, rolling hills with stunning views of the mountains and the ocean.

In terms of course details, the Connemara Championship Links is a links course with 27 holes, all of which are par 72. The total distance for each combination of two courses is as follows: A+B - 6,666 yards, A+C - 6,027 yards, and B+C - 6,339 yards.

Overall, the Connemara Championship Links is an experience that every golfer should have at least once in their lifetime. With its breathtaking views, challenging holes, and impeccable design, this course is truly one of the best in the world.
